Dalkey Harbour is one of the most charming spots on Dublin’s southern coast. Located in the historic town of Dalkey, this small harbour offers breathtaking views, especially at sunrise. It’s a perfect place for photographers, nature lovers, and those seeking a peaceful moment by the water.
Sunrise Over Dalkey Harbour
During my visits to Dalkey Harbour, I captured two stunning sunrise shots. The first image showcases the small local harbour, where boats gently sway on the calm waters. The soft morning sunlight reflects off the surface, creating a beautifully serene scene.
The second shot features Dalkey Island, located just a few hundred meters offshore. At sunrise, the island takes on a magical appearance—its cliffs and ancient ruins stand out against the shimmering water.
Dalkey Harbour - A Place of History
Dalkey Harbour has a rich history dating back to medieval times when it was an important trading port. Today, it is mainly a recreational area where kayakers, fishermen, and walkers enjoy the stunning coastal scenery.
How to Get to Dalkey Harbour?
Dalkey Harbour is about a 30-minute drive from Dublin city centre. It is also easily accessible by the DART train, with a short walk from Dalkey station leading directly to the harbour.
Dalkey Harbour is one of those places best visited in the early morning to witness breathtaking sunrises and experience the magical atmosphere of Ireland’s coastline.
