This bustling seaside town, located just a short distance from Dublin, is a favorite escape for those looking to enjoy the sun, fresh air, and the vibrant energy that fills its streets. Spring in Dublin 2014 – An Analog Journey Through a Gloomy City | Olympus Trip 35 and Fuji Pro 400H

Springtime in Dublin has its own unique charm. Although 2014 didn’t bring the typical warm, sunny days of the season, the grey and dreary weather held a certain allure. I decided to capture this specific atmosphere by relying on my trusty Olympus Trip 35, always able to bring out the best on film. I chose Fuji Pro 400H, a film that beautifully highlighted the subtle tones and soft colors of those days.

 St. Patrick’s Day Parade
One of the most interesting moments I managed to capture was the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Despite the overcast sky, Dublin was alive with energy and colors. Green accents, hats, flags, and the smiles of the participants contrasted beautifully with the grey surroundings. It felt like a symphony of colors in a muted city—perfect for analog photography, which so well preserves the saturation and depth of hues.

 Botanic Gardens
Away from the city’s hustle, I decided to visit Dublin’s Botanic Gardens. Even in the gloomy weather, there were delicate signs of nature waking up. The flowers, still in early bloom, stood out vividly, filled with hope. The grey sky only emphasized their fragile beauty, and the texture of Fuji Pro 400H added a distinctive character to the shots.

I couldn’t resist a stroll through the streets of Dublin either. In 2014, the city had its usual rhythm—seemingly calm but full of tiny details easy to overlook. On film, I captured scenes of everyday life—passersby, trams, and rain-soaked streets. Each shot, thanks to analog photography, feels like it carries its own story, wrapped in the grain and tonal depth of the film.

 Although the weather wasn’t ideal, the grey and melancholic mood of those Dublin days had its own appeal. Shooting analog allowed me to capture these moments in a way that digital cameras often miss—with a touch of nostalgia and authenticity. My Olympus Trip 35 and Fuji Pro 400H rose to the occasion, and you can see the results of my work in the photos below.
