This bustling seaside town, located just a short distance from Dublin, is a favorite escape for those looking to enjoy the sun, fresh air, and the vibrant energy that fills its streets. A Walk Along the Promenade

On a bright Saturday afternoon, Bray's promenade becomes a hub of activity. Families, couples, and solo adventurers alike stroll along the waterfront, soaking in the sun and the fresh sea breeze. You’ll see children laughing as they chase after kites, teenagers gathered around food stalls, and elderly couples sitting on benches, enjoying the simplicity of the moment. The promenade is not just a place to walk but a space to connect with others, whether through a shared smile or a quick chat with a local vendor.

People-Watching at Its Finest

Bray’s promenade is a perfect spot for people-watching. On sunny days, it feels like a microcosm of life, where you can see the town’s diverse crowd in full swing. Street performers entertain passersby, drawing a crowd with their music and artistry. Nearby, friends gather on the grass for picnics, while joggers weave in and out of groups, taking advantage of the beautiful weather. You can almost feel the rhythm of life beating through the laughter, conversations, and footsteps on the promenade.

Life Around the Port

As you move towards the port, the atmosphere shifts slightly. Here, the fishermen return with their daily catch, and boats bob gently in the sparkling water. The port, while quieter than the bustling promenade, still carries its own charm. Families and groups of friends gather by the docks, watching boats set out or return, and children feed the seagulls with glee. The sight of people enjoying simple moments together, sharing stories or silently gazing at the sea, adds a serene beauty to the scene.

Weekend Vibes in the Sun

What stands out the most in Bray on a sunny weekend is the sense of community. The town becomes a melting pot of locals and visitors, all brought together by the joy of being outdoors and sharing the space. Sunbathers stretch out on the grassy areas near the beach, couples share ice creams as they stroll hand in hand, and groups of friends chat animatedly while sitting by the water. There's a shared feeling of ease and relaxation that fills the air, making Bray feel welcoming and alive.

Spring in Dublin 2014 – An Analog Journey Through a Gloomy City | Olympus Trip 35 and Fuji Pro 400H

Springtime in Dublin has its own unique charm. Although 2014 didn’t bring the typical warm, sunny days of the season, the grey and dreary weather held a certain allure. I decided to capture this specific atmosphere by relying on my trusty Olympus Trip 35, always able to bring out the best on film. I chose Fuji Pro 400H, a film that beautifully highlighted the subtle tones and soft colors of those days.

 St. Patrick’s Day Parade
One of the most interesting moments I managed to capture was the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Despite the overcast sky, Dublin was alive with energy and colors. Green accents, hats, flags, and the smiles of the participants contrasted beautifully with the grey surroundings. It felt like a symphony of colors in a muted city—perfect for analog photography, which so well preserves the saturation and depth of hues.

 Botanic Gardens
Away from the city’s hustle, I decided to visit Dublin’s Botanic Gardens. Even in the gloomy weather, there were delicate signs of nature waking up. The flowers, still in early bloom, stood out vividly, filled with hope. The grey sky only emphasized their fragile beauty, and the texture of Fuji Pro 400H added a distinctive character to the shots.

 Dublin Streets
I couldn’t resist a stroll through the streets of Dublin either. In 2014, the city had its usual rhythm—seemingly calm but full of tiny details easy to overlook. On film, I captured scenes of everyday life—passersby, trams, and rain-soaked streets. Each shot, thanks to analog photography, feels like it carries its own story, wrapped in the grain and tonal depth of the film.

 Although the weather wasn’t ideal, the grey and melancholic mood of those Dublin days had its own appeal. Shooting analog allowed me to capture these moments in a way that digital cameras often miss—with a touch of nostalgia and authenticity. My Olympus Trip 35 and Fuji Pro 400H rose to the occasion, and you can see the results of my work in the photos below.
